No more standing in line when you arrive in the US!  All formalities completed at Shannon before you depart.

The US and Irish governments signed an agreement in November 2008 that allows for the implementation of full pre-clearance facilities at Shannon Airport for passengers departing to the US.  This facility is now fully operational.

This means that when you arrive in the US from Shannon you will be treated at your destination airport as if you had arrived on a domestic flight - so no more standing in line for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) checks!  Pre-clearance will also include all US Department of Agriculture (USDA) formalities.

If you're travelling onwards when you arrive in the US from Shannon, you'll be treated as if you were making a normal domestic transfer; you'll be able to transit straight to your departure gate without having to clear your luggage first!

Pre-clearance is also available for chartered and private aircraft, so you'll be able to fly direct to any airport or private airfield in the US, having completed all formalities before leaving Shannon.  This makes Shannon Airport an ideal hub for US-bound flights originating anywhere in Europe or the Middle East.
